VERNON D. SCHIEBER
El Paso- Vernon D. Schieber, 80, of
El Paso, passed away at 3:50 am on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the
Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.
Funeral services will be held at
10:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church
in El Paso. Rev. Jonathan Boehne will officiate. Visitation will be
held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2011 at
Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour prior to
services at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow services in
Secor Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made
to Trinity Lutheran Church in El Paso, El Paso Fire Department, or
the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.
Vernon was born on October 26, 1931
in Secor, IL a son of Earnest and Ida Schaefer Schieber. He married
Wanda J. Shaw on June 5, 1953 in Bloomington, IL. She passed away
on November 23, 2010.
Surviving are six sons, Joe D.
(Theresa) Schieber; Vergil Schieber; Darrell Schieber; Darwin
(Jill) Schieber; Richard Schieber all of El Paso; Roger (Dana)
Schieber of Browning; two daughters, Vernette (Kent) Wagner; Jan
(Bill) Rassi both of Roanoke; seventeen grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; one son, Roland Schieber, and one sister, Anita
Kingdon.
Vernon worked for Kent Lumber and
Coal, Rex Pinkham Builders, the Woodford County Highway Department
and various area farmers.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church in El Paso where he was a trustee and also a member of the
Secor Sportsmans Club. Vernon was a member of the El Paso Fire
Department. He was the Squirrel Crossing Guard in El Paso for many
years.
