Congerville- Doris E. Jones, 78, of Congerville, IL passed away
at 11:25 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian
Home of Eureka, IL.
She was born on August 17, 1933 in Thawville, IL a daughter of
Leon Danforth and Ethel Daugherty Conn. She married Jack K. Jones
on January 30, 1955 in Onarga, Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Steven K. (Patty) Jones of
Eureka, IL; Thomas (Gale) Jones of Findley, OH; two daughters,
Susan (Dennis) Minton of North Pekin, IL; Deborah (Scott) Clark of
Champaign, IL; one brother, Ronald (Bonita) Conn of Onarga, IL; two
sisters, Eloise Fisher of Colorado Springs, CO; Reta (Donald)
Benson of Thawville, IL; fourteen grandchildren and four
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one
She graduated from Onarga High School and attended Illinois
College in Jacksonville. She later graduated from Brown's Business
School in Champaign, IL.
Doris was a member of the Eureka Christian Church and former
member of the Douglas Ave Methodist Church in Springfield, IL where
she was active in the Elizabeth Circle.
She led a full and happy life. She was very active in her home
church, Douglas United Methodist in Springfield. She participated
actively in PTA and various clubs and committees to support her
children's activities. She and her beloved husband, Jack, loved to
travel. They took the children camping every year and thereby
imparted in them an enduring love of nature. Later in life, Jack
and Doris were able to travel internationally, including trips to
China, Egypt, Israel, and Europe.
Doris was a wonderful wife and mother to her family. Always
loving, always patient, sweet and kind beyond measure. She was the
heart of her family. Her family in turn loved her deeply and
unabashedly and her departure from this world leaves a void that
only the future reunion in Heaven will fully repair.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 26,
2012 at the Eureka Christian Church. Rev. Jennie Churchman will
officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm
at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Cremation rites
will be accorded. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at
Douglas Ave Methodist Church in Springfield, IL at a later
