Ardis Roberta Turner

Springfield-  Ardis Roberta Martin Dewalt passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL; where she has lived with her son, Steve, since the 90's.  She was 93 years old, being born on January 9, 1919.

Ardis attended Henry Grade School and Henry High School, graduating with honors much to the pleasure of her mother, Etta Mae (Dolly) Martin and her father, William Harold Dewalt.  Her parents died in 1980 and 1981, and she had no siblings.

Ardis married Clarence Junior (a.k.a. C.J.) Turner on September 20, 1938.  He passed away on November 30, 1987, at 70 years of age.  They had one son, Kenneth, whom mom miscarried, between her daughter Roberta (Bobby) Elaine Turner Boundy; who resides in Henry, and her son Steven (Steve) Turner; of Springfield, IL.  Ardis has two grandchildren, Brett Steven Boundy, of Henry, and Brandy Brook Boundy, of Pekin, IL; three grandchildren from Steve and Mary Tega Turner; Ryan, Brent, and Trey, all of Springfield; and one great-grandson, Maddux, born on October 12, 2010 to Ryan and Angelina Turner; and one nephew, Robert C. Turner, of Kelso, WA.

CJ and Ardis lived on Edwards Street in Henry until building a house on Warren Street.   They made several moves, Fon Du Lac Drive in East Peoria, Racine, WI, and later Malibu Drive in Henry, all connected to work at Caterpillar, Inc.  and retirement.

We all attended as members and as a family the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Boose and his wife Mrs. John Boose.

Ardis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a fantastic county cook, a good friend, and a hospital volunteer in Peoria and Racine, WI.  You will be missed, Mom, along with all of our relatives, whom we loved so much.  Sadly, everyone has passed, so there will be graveside services only at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Henry Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the A.R.K.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.lenzmemorialhome.com.
